CIG seeks to raise money for partnerships considered to be best-of-breed partnerships diversified among three sectors of the U.S. and non-U. S. private equity universe: growth equity and venture capital, buyouts and special situations. Selection

CIG evaluates partnership investment opportunities based on their individual merit and their potential to add strategic diversification to each client's portfolio. In our search for repeatable attractive performance in these investments, we undertake a disciplined examination of the following criteria:

* Track record reflecting attractive portfolio development and strong returns
* Experience and continuity of the team working together to invest institutional capital
* Demonstrated expertise consistent with well-defined strategies
* Disciplined investment approach that creates long-term value
* Ability to realize profits with successfully managed exists

Due Diligence

Partnership investments that pass CIG initial screening undergo in-depth fundamental research and analysis. We apply proprietary quantitative techniques to analyze past performance. In addition, our qualitative measures help us understand the potential for those attributes that contributed to past performance to produce strong results going forward. We also use numerous reference checks for each partnership and visit the portfolio companies of prior partnerships managed by the general partner before making an investment in order to develop as complete a picture of the investment team as possible.

Portfolio Construction

In selecting a general partner, CIG looks for ones that have a balanced approach to portfolio construction. This ensures that clients benefit from a portfolio of best-of breed that exhibits a high degree of diversification across sectors, industries, geography and time. Considerable resources are deployed researching each investment and the potential added-value of each partnership in order to build portfolios that will perform well in differing financial and economic environments.

Monitoring and Reporting

CIG is distinguished by an active approach to monitoring and reporting on partnership investments. We use proprietary state-of-the-art technology to track and report information on each investment and on the overall portfolio in order to closely monitor the activities and investments within client portfolios relative to the stated strategies. In addition to analyzing quarterly and annual partnership financial reports, our hands-on approach includes attending annual meetings, participating on advisory and valuation committees, visiting partnership offices, as well as ongoing communications with general partners managing the partnerships.

Profit Realization

The ultimate objective of private equity investing is the realization and distribution of profits. CIG analyzes the thinking and strategies behind each partnership's planned profit realization process prior to committing to the partnership investment. As limited partners may receive distributions in publicly-traded stock in addition to cash, CIG manages the ultimate disposition of such securities in order to return cash to its clients.
